Seward Alaska Halibut Fishing Trips

Halibut fishing in Seward, Alaska offers anglers the chance to battle with some of the Pacific’s most sought-after bottom-dwellers. At Alaska Halibut, our USCG-licensed captains bring several years of local experience to every charter, navigating you to productive fishing grounds while prioritizing safety and comfort.

Why Seward Is Ideal for Halibut Fishing

Seward’s unique position at the edge of Resurrection Bay provides access to halibut habitats within a 60-minute run from port. The underwater topography of this region features deep trenches, underwater shelves, and nutrient-rich zones where Pacific halibut congregate. These protected waters often allow for more fishing days compared to open ocean locations as the mountain ranges protect it when other areas get to rough to fish. Our team has mapped specific GPS coordinates of reliable fishing grounds through decades of trips.

Typical catches range from 15-80 pounds, with our clients landing several 100+ pound trophy halibut each season. This area is known for lots of rock fish and silver salmon from July thru August that makes it a favorite place to stock up on several species while fishing for halibut.
